Samantha CousinsSamantha Cousins

Samantha is the owner/operator of Ships of the Desert, purchasing the business in August of 2009. An ex-preschool teacher, 27 year old Samantha has spent the last few years in the Goldfield’s town of Kalgoorlie before moving to Broome and purchasing the business. Samantha grew up in country locations as result of her father working in the mining industry, and was involved with horses from a young age and participated in Pony Club and low-level eventing. These days, she finds she enjoys spending time with her ‘horses with humps’ a lot more! Samantha manages all tour bookings and accounts for Ships of the Desert and also has a hands-on role with the tours on the beach. She especially enjoys interacting with school groups and the families with small children that ride with Ships and introducing them to our magical camels.

Kirsten Blatcher

From the red carpet of London to the red dirt of Broome, Kirsten is our amazing professional photographer, merchandise coordinator and assistant manager to Sam. Kirsten does an fantastic job personalising our professional photography products to ensure that everyone takes away an incredible memory of their time with our camels in Broome. She returns to us after also working with us in 2010, and is a pivotal part of the Ships operation. 

CelineCeline

Celine has joined Ships of the Desert from last season, where she was first introduced to our kids. She enjoys caring for our beautiful camels, and has a firm favourite in her picture- Miss Indi!

Coming from France, Celine also teaches our camels French- they are almost bilingual!

 

JakeJake

Jake worked on Cable Beach with camels last year and has returned again to enjoy the Broome lifestyle and to introduce our 'kids' to our valued customers.

Jake comes from the UK.

Nash

Nash joins us from Canada. and is thoroughly enjoying the experience with working with camels on Cable Beach.

Always keen for a laugh, Nash ensures that everyone that rides with Ships is treated to a memorable experience. Nash also assists Sam and Kirsten with the Ships Photography Service.

Kerry

Adding to our melting-pot of nationalities here at Ships, Kerry joins us from Ireland. She has found a favourite camel here in Felix and enjoys giving him lots of love and cuddles!
